Bees Well Represented on 2011 MWL All-Star Roster

LANSING, MI - The Burlington Bees, in conjunction with the Midwest League of Professional Baseball, is happy to announce the selection of six Bees to the Western Division Roster of the 2011 Midwest League All-Star Game at Modern Woodman Park in Davenport, IA on June 21. SS Yordy Cabrera leads the list of Bees selected as he was picked to be the starting short stop for the Western Division All-Stars.

2B Nino Leyja and LF Douglas Landaeta were selected as reserve players. RHP Blake Hassebrock, RHP Daniel Tenholder and RHP Zach Thornton were also selected to the roster.

Cabrera is hitting .267 with three home runs and 22 RBI heading into tonight's game at Lansing. Landaeta is one of two Bees currently hitting over .300 with a .304 batting average, four home runs and 34 RBI. Leyja is third in the Midwest League with 37 runs scored.

Hassebrock is third in the Midwest League with a 1.46 ERA over 55.2 innings pitched. He has struck out 51 in his time on the mound and will get the start tonight for the Bees. Tenholder leads the Bees with seven saves. Thornton has proven his versatility, performing in roles ranging from long relief to closing. He is 2-2 with a 2.84 ERA and has walked just six men in 31.2 innings pitched.

The Bees and Lugnuts continue their series tonight at 6:05 p.m. RHP Blake Hassebrock (3-1, 1.46) gets the start for the Burlington Bees against RHP Drew Hutchison (2-2, 3.94) for the Lugnuts. Pre-game coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. on Newsradio 1490 and online on gobees.com.
