Peoria Chiefs News Release

Peoria, IL- The Peoria Chiefs and Chicago Cubs have announced right-handed pitcher Dallas Beeler has been promoted to Double-A Tennessee of the Southern League. With the Chiefs on the road and Beeler's slot in the starting rotation not up until Wednesday at home, the roster slot has not been immediately filled.

Beeler, 21, is 1-1 with a 2.08 ERA in nine outings and eight starts for the Chiefs this season. He struck out 28 and walked just five batters in 34 2/3 innings this season and held Midwest League batters to a .225 average. He was robbed of a victory on Thursday in his final start in Lansing when the Chiefs' bullpen failed to hold onto a 5-2 lead. In that outing against the Lugnuts, Beeler allowed two runs, one earned on five hits and a walk. He set new season and career-highs with 5 1/3 innings pitched and six strikeouts. The right-hander missed two turns in the rotation after suffering an oblique injury in Clinton on April 27. After a short stint on the disabled list, he returned to the rotation to piggyback with Robinson Lopez as he built the pitch count back up to 60. Beeler was drafted in the 41st round of the 2010 draft out of Oral Roberts University where he was 2-0 with two saves and a 5.15 ERA in 12 outings. As a rookie in pro ball last season, Beeler was 0-3 with a 3.31 ERA in the Arizona Rookie League with Mesa striking out 16 batters in 16 1/3 innings. He finished the 2010 season 0-0 in two outings with Boise.

The Chiefs finish a 10-game road trip with a Saturday night 7:05 contest and a Sunday afternoon 2:05 Eastern time tilt in Midland, MI against Great Lakes. With a 24-man roster the Chiefs expect to add another pitcher before the 10-game homestand starts against West Michigan on Tuesday night.
