Lugnuts Announce Yoga in the Outfield
June 4, 2014 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Lansing Lugnuts News Release
LANSING, Mich. - Lush green grass, blue skies and the crack of the bat at Cooley Law School Stadium always signify that summer is on its way. This year, a more peaceful event will officially usher in the new season, as the Lugnuts celebrate the summer solstice with Yoga In The Outfield on Saturday, June 21st.
Gates will open at 8am with a 11/2 hour long intermediate vinyasa yoga class beginning promptly at 9am. The class will be led by Country Morra, a yoga instructor at Hilltop Yoga. Courtney will have yoga teacher assistants spread amongst the yoga participants to provide help and modification.
"Yoga In The Outfield is a unique opportunity to unite, move and breathe together as a community," said Morra. "Let's salute the sun and welcome summer to mid-Michigan."
Tickets are $20 in advance ($25 on the day of the event) and can be purchased at LansingLugnuts.com or by visiting the Cooley Law School Stadium Box Office. Spectator passes will also be available for $5. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Free Being Yoga Network.
"We're very excited to host another community focused event here at Cooley Law School Stadium, said Lugnuts General Manager Nick Grueser. "The opportunity to welcome all levels of yoga participants to our house and give back at the same time makes this event a natural fit for us."
"We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to raise funds to provide yoga to those who might otherwise not receive its benefits but who need it most," said Belinda Thurston, director of the Free Being Yoga Network. "Sharing yoga in new, fun, non-traditional environments opens yoga's potential to the whole community."
