Colorado Eagles News Release

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Colorado Eagles, 1-0, to take their only game of a three-game set between the teams this week. Mitch O'Keefe stopped 28 shots in the game, while Adam Brown stopped 22 of 23 at the other end of the ice in a tough-luck loss. Both teams went 0-for-4 on the power play.

The Wranglers out-shot the Eagles, 10-8, in the first frame, with Colorado not registering their first shot until nine minutes into the game. By that time Las Vegas had already netted the period's only goal on a controversial non-call by referee Brett Sheva.

A shot from the right circle got behind Brown and sat at the right goal post where he leaned back and appeared to cover it with the help of several teammates. However, no whistle came as the Wranglers continued to pound away at the scrum for several seconds until the puck finally crossed the goal line.

Each team registered eight shots in the second period, in which the biggest drama built late in the first half of the frame when Colorado successfully killed a four minute double-minor with a full 5-on-3 in the middle of it.

The Eagles continued to amp up their pressure in the third period, out-shooting the Wranglers, 12-5, in the final frame. But Colorado couldn't get a puck past O'Keefe as Las Vegas killed off two more penalties to aid the defensive effort.

Special Note: For the second consecutive year, the Colorado Eagles held a "Pot of Gold" community fundraiser in which the team's fans helped raise money to aid a local family in need. This year's efforts raised nearly $30,000 for Jaycie Love, an eight-year old girl with leukemia. The team wore special Irish-themed jerseys in honor of St. Patrick's Day which were auctioned off to help the cause.
