Tonight's Matchup: The San Francisco Bulls (24-34-1-6) wrap up their two-game weekend series against the Utah Grizzlies (25-29-4-8), today, at the Cow Palace. This is the seventh and final meeting between these two clubs this season, with the Bulls trailing in the season series 2-4-0-0. The Bulls are on a three-game winning streak.
Last night San Francisco came away the victors against the Grizzlies, 6-5, in a hectic game decided in a shootout. Through two periods, the Bulls held a 3-2 lead, before both teams combined to score five goals in the third. At the end of regulation the score sat at 5-5. The game would go to overtime and eventually the shootout, where San Francisco just edged out Utah for the win. The Bulls received goals from Peter Sivak (2), Bryan Cameron, Jordan Morrison, and Christian Ouellet (shorthanded). The assists went to Kory Falite (2), Tristan King, Dean Ouellet, Tommy Grant, Ian Schultz, C. Ouellet, and Morrison. In the shootout, Cameron and D. Ouellet scored for the Bulls, with netminder Taylor Nelson holding the Grizzlies to one goal. San Francisco held the edge in shots, 38-36.
After two more goals last night, Sivak is now riding a four game goal-streak. He has a total of six over that span. He leads the team in goals with 33, and is fourth in the ECHL. With his assist T. King recorded his 100th career ECHL point. He now has eight points (4g, 4a) in the 12 games since joining the club.
The Utah Grizzlies are in seventh place in the Western Conference with 62 points, seven behind the Las Vegas Wranglers. The San Francisco Bulls sit in eighth place in the Western Conference with 55 points, seven points behind the Grizzlies and eight points ahead of the Bakersfield Condors. The Bulls magic number to clinch a playoff spot is down to four.
Today the Bulls will be hosting Star Wars Day, and Always Dream Foundation Day! Come to the game dressed in your best Star Wars costume for a costume contest. For every costume worn $5 will be donated to the Always Dream Foundation. In addition, a portion of the proceeds from the game's events will also be donated to the Always a Dream Foundation.
