Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League, has agreed to terms with rookie left wing Andrew Clark, Thunder head coach Matt Thomas announced today. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Clark, 24, will wear the #21 jersey with the Thunder and he recently completed his fourth season with Acadia University (CIS) with 131 points in 111 games, averaging over a point per game during each year of his college career.
"It's important that we address needs on our club with the postseason getting closer and Andrew helps increase our offensive depth," said Thomas. "His ability to finish, no matter what league he plays in, and sharp hockey sense are part of a reputation that we're confident will guide our offense to a higher level."
Clark's senior season saw him lead Acadia in scoring with 32 points on the season while earning a spot on the CIS All-Canadian Second Team. He tallied a career high 24 assists and 39 points during his junior year (2011-12).
The 5-foot-11 and 178 pound forward from Brandon, Manitoba also spent 216 games as a member of his hometown team Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League, serving as the Wheat Kings' alternate captain during the 2007-08 season.
Clark totaled 216 points, earning a career high 78 points while scoring 40 goals during the 2008-09 season which saw the Wheat Kings reach the Eastern Conference final.
Upon league approval of the deal, Clark is expected to join the Thunder lineup for today's game at 4:00 p.m. (1280 AM KWSX/StocktonThunder.com) against the Bakersfield Condors at Stockton Arena.
