Gladiators Clinch Playoff Berth with 3-2 Win over Orlando

The Gwinnett Gladiators won their fourth consecutive game as they knocked off the Orlando Solar Bears 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Andy Brandt notched two goals in the contest, including the game winner, to lift Gwinnett to the win. The win, coupled with a loss in regulation by the Kalamazoo Wings clinched a 2013 Kelly Cup Playoff berth for the Gladiators.

Brandt notched his 11th goal of the season with just 1:56 left in the first period as he beat Killeen to the far post for the marker. Yuri Bouharevich fed Brandt in the slot to set up the power play goal for Gwinnett.

Orlando answered just 29 seconds later as Nick McParland ripped a shot past Gwinnett netminder Mark Visentin from the left wing circle. Michael Neal added an assist on the goal for the Solar Bears.

After a scoreless second period, Gwinnett regained the lead on Doug Jones' 20th goal of the season. The rookie danced into the slot the rolled the puck past Killeen at the 3:25 mark of the third period. Scott Arnold and Sacha Guimond collected the assists on the goal.

McParland notched his second goal of the contest for Orlando to tie the game at 2-2 with 5:39 gone by in the third period. McParland beat Visentin from point blank range in the slot while Brett Hartung and Neal had the assist on the goal.

Brandt posted his second goal of the game with 12:15 left in the third period as he rolled a loose puck in the slot past Killeen for the game winner. Bouharevich collected his second assist of the game for the Gladiators while Justin Weller also had a helper on the marker.

Visentin finished with 26 saves as he notched his first win of the season with Gwinnett after he was assigned to the Gladiators on March 14th from the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
