
Love On Ice Friday Night At Checkers Game

Charlotte, NC - Thursday, February 13, 2003: Have you ever seen a couple get engaged at a hockey game, on the ice, with several thousand people looking on? Well you will have that opportunity this Friday night, Valentine's Night, at Cricket Arena when the Charlotte Checkers host the Richmond Renegades at 7:35 p.m.! A man will be proposing to a woman on the ice at some point during the evening. This unique Valentine's night promotion is being sponsored by 106.5 FM The End, Skatell's Manufacturing Jewelers, Snowshoe Mountain, and the Checkers.
The lucky couple will win a pair of tickets to the game, an engagement ring courtesy of Skatell's Manufacturing Jewelers, and a three day, two night "Engagement Getaway" to Snowshoe Mountain in Wild and Wonderful West Virginia. The name of the winning couple and the exact time of the proposal will be kept a secret until it happens Friday night at the Checkers game.
"This is a very unique opportunity, not only for the couple who will be involved in the marriage propossal on the ice, but also for the fans who will witness it," states Checkers President Bob Scheer. "A marriage proposal is usually a very private thing, so for several thousand fans to see this happen "live" should be very entertaining."

The Charlotte Checkers enter their tenth season as members of the East Coast Hockey League, who celebrate their 15th anniversary this season. The team is owned by Felix Sabates and Carl Scheer.
