Louisville Bats News Release
SYRACUSE, NY -- The Bats (26-24) can't fend off the Mets (20-31) late rally and fall 9-8 on a walk-off, bases-loaded single in the bottom of the eighth inning. Syracuse snaps Louisville's five-game winning streak as the Bats head home to prepare for the Worcester Red Sox.
Louisville kicked off the game with scoring three runs in the first inning thanks to back-to-back home runs from Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Matt Reynolds. Encarnacion-Strand's team-leading 13th home run also scored Elly De La Cruz, who singled on the previous at bat.
Syracuse answered in the middle of the inning, plating a pair of runs.
The Bats tallied another run in the second inning thanks to a Nick Martini double that scored Jhonny Pereda.
The Mets took their first lead in the third inning, scoring three after loading the bases. Louisville held off further damage by closing the inning out on a 4-6-3 double-play with two runners on.
Louisville tied the game in the fourth inning thanks to Andy Yerzy's first solo home run in his second career Triple A game and took back the lead at 6-5 in the sixth inning by way of a wild pitch scoring Reynolds.
A base-clearing double from Encarnacion-Strand scored two in the top of the seventh inning and extended the Bats lead. Encarnacion-Strand ended going 2-for-4 with four RBI.
Once again Syracuse would match in the bottom of the inning with a two-run homer.
The Mets tied the game in the eighth inning and with the bases loaded in the bottom of the inning, won their first game of the series on a single to left field.
Louisville heads back to Louisville to ready for a homestand against the Worcester Red Sox (25-26) with game one slotted for 6:35 p.m. ET on Tuesday, May 30.
