Atlanta Gladiators News Release
DULUTH, Ga. - The Arizona Coyotes, NHL affiliate of the Gwinnett Gladiators, announced that goaltender Louis Domingue has been recalled by the team on Saturday. Domingue (pronounced loo-EE DOE-ming) has played in 43 games for the Gladiators dating back to 2012.
Domingue, 22, most recently made a two-game rehab assignment with the Gladiators on January 2nd and the 3rd. The third year professional was 1-1 with a 1.01 goals-against average and a .958 save percentage, including a shutout of the Elmira Jackals on the 2nd.
The Mont. St. Hilaire, Quebec native has played in 13 games for the Portland Pirates of the AHL this season, going 8-4-1 with a 2.40 GAA and a .922 SV%. He was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the fifth round (138th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Domingue is the second Gladiator goaltender to receive the call to the NHL this month. Mike Lee was also with the Coyotes from January 15th to the 21st, receiving his assignment directly from Gwinnett to Arizona.
Louis Domingue is also the sixth Gladiator in team history to receive an assignment to the NHL in the same season as his time with Gwinnett. The previous five in-season call-ups were also all goaltenders: Adam Munro - Chicago (2/18-2/23/04, 2/26-4/5/04) Adam Berkhoel - Atlanta (12/22-12/26/05, 4/8-4/18/06) Mike Dunham - Atlanta (1/17-4/18/06) Dan Turple - Atlanta (3/26-4/3/06) Mike Lee - Arizona (1/15-1/21/15) Domingue will join the Coyotes ahead of their game today against the Ottawa Senators in Ottawa, Ontario. The Gladiators will take on the Evansville IceMen tonight at the Ford Center at 8:15 p.m. EST.
The Gladiators are members of the ECHL, the nation's premier "AA" hockey league, and are affiliated with the Arizona Coyotes of the NHL. All home games are played at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth - where parking is always free.
