Biloxi Shuckers News Release
CHATTANOOGA, TN - After scoring three runs in the top of the ninth, the Biloxi Shuckers (45-31) lost on a walk-off single by Chris Paul to the Chattanooga Lookouts (38-37) 5-4 on Tuesday afternoon at AT&T Field.
Chattanooga tallied the first run of the game in the third. Alex Perez singled with two outs and scored on a Jimmy Kerrigan double, putting the Lookouts up 1-0. Biloxi responded with a run of their own in the top of the fourth after Keston Hiura doubled, stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Lucas Erceg. Hiura has now hit safely in his last seven games with Biloxi.
RHP Trey Supak turned in another good outing but departed the game in the sixth after allowing a pair of singles. Mitchell Kranson drove in a run for Chattanooga with a single before a walk to Jaylin Davis loaded the bases. Ryan Walker was hit by a pitch from RHP Jon Perrin, forcing in a run to make it 3-1 Lookouts. Chattanooga tacked on an extra run in the eighth on a fielder's choice by Walker to stretch their advantage to 4-1.
With two outs in the ninth, the Shuckers rallied for three runs against RHP Todd Van Steensel (BS, 5). Blake Allemand and Luis Aviles Jr. each walked, and Coulter drove in a run with a single to left. Max McDowell singled the opposite way in the ensuing at bat, plating Aviles Jr. to bring the Shuckers within a run. Troy Stokes Jr. delivered the tying run for Biloxi, dropping a single into left field that evened the game at four all. LHP Paco Rodriguez (W, 2) halted the Shuckers rally with a groundball out from Trent Grisham.
In the bottom of the ninth, Perez singled with one out, putting the winning run on base. RHP Miguel Sanchez (L, 1) forced a fly out to center by Jimmy Kerrigan before intentionally walking Brent Rooker. Chris Paul stepped to the plate and pounced on the first pitch, lining it into left field and sending home Perez to finish the game.
