Mobile BayBears News Release
MOBILE, Ala. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, held the Tennessee Smokies scoreless for the final seven innings but dropped the series finale 4-2 Tuesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Zach Houchins provided the only offense for Mobile (40-34 overall, 3-3 second half). His two-run homer in the third cut Tennessee's lead to 4-2. The BayBears left two runners on base in the first, fourth, and seventh.
Thomas Hatch (6-4) recorded a quality start, earning the win for the Smokies (39-37, 3-3). He allowed two runs on five hits in a six-inning start. Jordan Minch and Jake Stinnett held the BayBears hitless for three frames to close out the game.
After scoring runs on a wild pitch in the first and a Will Remillard double in the second, Vimael Machin followed with a two-run homer off Jason Alexander (0-1). It was Machin's first home run of the year and gave Tennessee an early 4-0 advantage.
The BayBears begin a six-game road series against the Biloxi Shuckers Thursday at 6:35 p.m. CDT. Right-handed pitcher Alex Klonowski (3-1, 4.28 ERA) is scheduled to make the start for Mobile. Live coverage can be seen on MiLB.tv (Biloxi feed, subscription required, promo code: BAYBEARS) and heard on the BayBears Broadcast Network, the TuneIn Radio App, and the MiLB First Pitch App, with the Countdown to First Pitch starting at 6:15 p.m.
