PEARL, MS - The Atlanta Braves have made the following roster move affecting the M-Braves roster prior to tonight's 7:00 pm game against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp at Trustmark Park. RHP Elian Leyva has been transferred to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Leyva, 29, will begin his fourth stint with the Triple-A Stripers, who have played back-to-back doubleheaders. In 14 games, including one start for the M-Braves, the Cuban born Leyva is 2-0 with a 2.78 ERA (10 ER/32.1 IP), seven walks and 32 strikeouts and a 1.33 WHIP. In five games, including one start for Gwinnett, Leyva is 0-0 with a 1.35 ERA (2 ER/13 IP), two walks, 10 strikeouts and a 1.05 WHIP. Leyva made his first career start on May 27 vs. Jacksonville and retired the first 11 batters faced and allowed just two hits over 4.0 innings with no walks and seven strikeouts.
Leyva was signed by the Braves as a non-drafted free agent on November 11, 2016, and was on loan to Tijuana in the Mexican League in 2017.
In a move made on Monday, M-Braves OF Taylor Murphy was released by the Braves.
The Mississippi Braves roster currently stands at 23 active players and four on the DL.
