Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Lookouts starting pitcher James Adkins combined with relievers Kendy Batista and Harvey Garcia to shut out the M-Braves, 8-0, in Tuesday night action at AT&T Field.

Chattanooga jumped off to an early 4-0 lead by unconventional means in the first frame. With one out, Trayvon Robinson walked and stole second after a Gaby Martinez fly out. Eddy Perez then walked to put runners on first and second. A wild pitch by pitcher Kyle Cofield (10-4) allowed both runners to advance a base. Another miscue, this time a fielding error by shortstop Brandon Hicks, put runners on the corners, while facilitating a run for the Lookouts. After a walk to Lambo to load the bases, Lucas May doubled to clear the bases. After the dust settled, the Lookouts held a 4-0 lead.

The Lookouts added another run in the fourth. Ramon Nivar doubled, swiped third, and made his way home on another Cofield wild pitch. An RBI double from Lambo in the fifth stretched the Lookouts' lead to 6-0. Meanwhile, Adkins (6-9) took care of business on the mound, carrying a no-hitter into the fourth. He ended the night with six shutout innings under his belt, yielding just four hits and four walks, while striking out five. Russ Mitchell kept the runs rolling for the Lookouts by slamming a two-run shot in the eighth to put the score at its final resting point, 8-0.
