Montgomery Biscuits News Release

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Stars scored six unanswered runs to race past the Biscuits, 6-4, in the third game of a five-game set on Monday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

The Biscuits got off to a quick start against Stars' starter Josh Butler in the first inning. Rashad Eldridge reached on an infield single and moved to second as Fernando Cortez was walked behind him. Chris Nowak forced Cortez at second, but reached on a fielder's choice to put runners at the corners with one out. Jose Lobaton rifled the first pitch from Butler into left field for a single, scoring Eldridge with the game's first run. Cody Cipriano followed with a ground ball to second base that the Stars attempted to turn a double-play on. The return throw to first got away from J.R. Hopf, allowing Cipriano to reach and Nowak to score, giving the Biscuits a 2-0 lead.

Huntsville got a run back in the third when Yohannis sent a solo-home run to right-center field off of Biscuits' starter Rayner Oliveros.

Oliveros then hit Shane Justis with a pitch to open the fourth inning. He advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored two batters later when Taylor Green sent a double down the right-field line to tie the game, 2-2.

Butler (2-1) recovered to work six innings, allowing just the two runs -- one earned. He earned his second win of the season, scattering seven hits, walking three and striking out three.

Oliveros continued into the sixth inning for Montgomery and recorded the first two outs of the inning. Drew Anderson then doubled to the right-field corner. Jonathan Lucroy then stepped in and delivered Huntsville the lead with a two-run blast over the wall in left-center field.

Oliveros (5-3) departed after six innings and took the loss for Montgomery. He allowed four earned runs on two home runs and five total hits.

The Stars added two more runs and their third home run of the ballgame off of reliever Heath Rollins in the seventh inning. Lorenzo Cain opened the inning with a single before Hopf laced a line-drive home run over the wall in right field.

Mike McClendon worked a scoreless seventh inning in relief, while Zach Braddock replicated the feat in the eighth. Rob Wooten ran into brief trouble in the ninth, allowing a two-run single to Cortez to cap the scoring before finishing the ballgame by flying Nowak to center field.

Game four of the series is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Tuesday night at Joe W. Davis Stadium. LHP Brandon Mann (6-7, 4.14) will make the start for Montgomery against RHP Brandon Kintzler (0-1, 6.86) for Huntsville.
