Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

The Winnipeg Goldeyes did something Friday night they haven't done all season - they came from behind to win on the road.

Down 3-0 after the third inning, Winnipeg (19-15) scored seven unanswered runs in a 7-3 win over the host Kansas City T-Bones (13-20) before 6,112 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Kansas City scored once in the first and twice in the third before Winnipeg's bats woke up.

Justin Bass hit a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to cut the deficit to one at 3-2. The next batter, Louis Ott, hit a solo home run to tie the game. It's the first time this season Winnipeg has hit back-to-back home runs and more than one home run in an inning.

The Goldeyes would follow the fifth with three more runs in the sixth inning. Jon Weber singled in Wes Long for the eventual game-winning RBI, while Brian Myrow scored a wild pitch three pitches later and then Weber scored on a Luis Alen sac fly.

Bass hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to finish the scoring for Winnipeg. He finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Bass joins Kody Kaiser as the only two Goldeyes to hit more than one home run in a game this season.

Goldeyes starter Isaac Hess pitched six and a third solid innings, allowing three runs on three hits for a quality start and struck out four. He gets the win. Aaron Hartsock and Jamie Vermilyea combined to keep Kansas City scoreless over the final two and two-thirds innings.

T-Bones starting pitcher Kris Johnson allowed six runs over five and a third innings and takes the loss.

The Goldeyes and T-Bones continue this three-game series Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. in Kansas City. All the action can be heard on Sports Radio 1290, beginning with Around the Association at 5:30 p.m.
