
Rally Falls Short, RedHawks Lose 10-7

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (19-15) lost by a score of 10-7 to the Sioux Falls Pheasants (14-20) Friday night at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, ND.
Scott Fogelson, who was last year's top left-handed pitcher in the Northern League, had an off night as he walked the first three batters of the game and gave up five runs in the first inning. Fogelson was pulled with one out in the second inning and was charged with a total of seven runs against (six earned).
The RedHawks played catch-up all game after that. They put up three runs in the first inning to put the score at 5-3. Then, a solo home run in the second inning by Brian Ruggiano and made it a 7-4 game. The Pheasants added a run in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh inning to make it 10-4. The RedHawk offense tried valiantly to rally in the eighth and ninth, but were only able to put three runs on the board before the Dan McDaniel got the final out.
Adam Cowart (3-1) struggled early on, giving up four runs in the first two innings, but settled down and lasted 7.1 innings in his third win of the year. Fogelson received the loss.
The Pheasants had two hitters, Gus Milner and Francisco Leandro, go 4-for-5 and three others had multi-hit nights on their way to 16 total hits and 10 runs. Fargo had four players of its own with multi-hit nights including Ruggiano and Nic Jackson, who both had home runs in the game.
The RedHawks will play the third game of their four-game series against the Sioux Falls Pheasants Saturday night. Game time is 6:00 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 701-235-6161, online at www.fmredhawks.com, or at the Ticket Office during business hours.
