
Lipcius Leads Comeback Win over Bowie

The SeaWolves were down to their final strike on Tuesday night at Price George's Stadium before rallying to beat the Bowie Baysox, 9-7, snapping a five-game losing streak.
Erie took the early lead in the top of the second against Bowie starter Garrett Stallings when Kerry Carpenter connected on an opposite-field solo home run, his 11th.
The 'Wolves built a five-run lead in the top of the third. Jon Rosoff led off with a walk and Drew Ward walked with one out. Josh Lester singled home Rosoff, picking up his 54th RBI. Carpenter walked, loading the bases for Andre Lipcius. Lipcius singled home a pair for a 4-0 lead. Andrew Navigato then hit into a fielder's choice, scoring Carpenter to complete a four-run inning.
Bowie got a pair back against Erie starter Joey Wentz in the home half of the fourth. Andrew Dashbach walked with one out and Kyle Stowers homered to make it a three-run game.
Wentz would take a no-decision working five innings for the first time with Erie this season. He allowed two runs on two hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
Bowie roared back in the sixth against Erie reliever Brad Bass. Patrick Dorian led off with a walk and moved into scoring position on a Stowers bunt single. Zach Watson reached on a catcher's interference, loading the bases. Both Johnny Rizer and Toby Welk singled home runs, trimming the Erie lead down to a run. Chris Hudgins connected on a bases-clearing double to give the Baysox a 7-5 advantage.
Baysox reliever Drew Rom hurled three scoreless frames and came out to work the ninth. Rosoff led off with a single but was erased when Danny Woodrow reached on a fielder's choice. Ward singled Woodrow into scoring position and Lester brought him home on a single to right for his second RBI of the game. Rom struck out Carpenter for the second out bringing Lipcius to the plate. Lipcius fell behind 1-2 before exploding on an opposite-field three-run home run, his seventh, capping a five-RBI day and giving Erie a 9-7 lead.
Cale Coshow (3-1) earned the win for Erie tossing two scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth. He allowed two hits with no walks and three strikeouts.
Rom (2-1) took the loss allowing four runs on five hits with no walks and six strikeouts.
