Bridgewater, New Jersey - The Somerset Patriots (57-39) carried a four-run first to a 6-2 win over the Akron RubberDucks (59-37) Tuesday night at TD Bank Ballpark

Akron plated a pair of runs in the top of the first inning off Patriots starter Corey Kluber to take an early lead. After that point, Kluber settled down to allow just three baserunners over his next three frames. The two-time Cy Young Award winner finished his night having allowed two runs on five hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

Somerset quickly took the lead in the bottom of the first inning on back-to-back home runs. First it was a three-run home run from Oswaldo Cabrera (16) to put the Patriots ahead 3-2 before Josh Breaux (3) sent out a solo home run to increase the lead to 4-2.

The Patriots later added an RBI single from Dermis Garcia in the third and an Oswald Peraza run-scoring fielder's choice in the eighth to top off the scoring.

Gio Urshela, playing in his second game with the team on a Major League rehab assignment, went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a hit-by-pitch.

Michael Gomez (W, 6-2) tossed 2.1 innings of scoreless relief and earned the win. Juan Hillman (L, 10-4) allowed five runs (four earned) over four innings and took the loss.

Somerset continues its six-game series against Akron Wednesday night. First pitch at TD Bank Ballpark is set for 7:05 p.m.
