Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce (8-3) earned their fifth straight home victory with a 102-91 win over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (8-6) at the Sanford Pentagon on Friday night.
DeAndre Liggins (14 points, 10 rebounds, 15 assists, four steals) notched the first triple-double in the NBA Development League this season and had a career day distributing the ball, recording 10 assists in the first half on his way to a career-best 15 on the game. He was ranked 13th in the NBADL averaging 5.8 assists coming into the game. With four steals on the night, Liggins also continued his streak of recording at least one steal in every game this season.
The ability to capitalize on turnovers was key in tonight's win for Sioux Falls as they scored 36 points off of 25 Fort Wayne turnovers. They were ranked first in the NBADL averaging 20.4 forced turnovers a game and improved on that number tonight. The Skyforce have now held opponents under 50 percent shooting in every game this season with the Mad Ants shooting 45 percent from the field tonight.
Keith Benson (26 points, 13 rebounds) recorded season highs in both points and rebounds, and Jabril Trawick (18 points, four steals) set a new career high in points scored coming off the bench. He finished the night making seven of his eight shot attempts, and has now made12 of his last 14 shots in the last two games combined.
Well-rounded performances by Shayne Wittington (22 points, seven rebounds, five steals) and Marcus Simmons (15 points, seven rebounds, seven assists) weren't enough for the Mad Ants to gain any ground in the second half as Sioux Falls led by 10 points or more for the majority of the game. Walter Lemon Jr. scored 17 points off the bench for Fort Wayne in the loss.
The Skyforce will look to continue their success at home as they take on the visiting Raptors 905 (4-8) on Tuesday, December 22.
