Bakersfield Jam News Release

BAKERSFIELD - The Bakersfield Jam (7-7) fell to the Canton Charge (4-8) 108-100 Thursday night at the Dignity Health Event Center.

Despite shooting 55 percent from the field to start the game, the Jam trailed 30-27 after one quarter of play. Both teams put up 22 points in the second period to keep it a three-point lead for Canton at the break.

The Charge extended their lead to as big as 13 in the third, but the Jam were able to cut their deficit to single digits heading into fourth quarter (83-75). Trailing by 11 points at the 7:16 mark of the final frame, Bakersfield surged to a quick 7-0 run and got within four points (96-92) of Canton. Despite a valiant effort down the stretch, that would be the closest the Jam got as the Charge answered back with a 6-0 run of their own to ultimately seal their win.

Earl Clark had a team-high 24 points to go along with nine rebounds, while Xavier Munford finished with 21 points, seven assists, six rebounds and two steals. In his first start of the season, Renaldo Major scored a season-high 16 points and grabbed five rebounds. Terrico White added 12 points.

Nick Minnerath led the Charge with 34 points (6/9 3FGs) off the bench. C.J. Wilcox, on assignment from the Los Angeles Clippers, posted a double-double with 24 points (5/10 3FGs) and 10 rebounds. Quinn Cook had 19 points and six assists.

The Jam will travel to Santa Cruz and take on the Warriors tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. PT.
