Frederick Keys News Release

KINSTON, NC - Stuart Levy hit a go-ahead, three-run home run in the top of the ninth to guide the Frederick Keys to a 6-4 win on Friday night at Grainger Stadium. It was the Keys fourth straight win and just the team's third this year when trailing after eight innings.

Down 4-3 in the top of the ninth, Frederick (14-22, 49-56) took the lead for good against Locke St. John. Jomar Reyes opened the inning with a single, while pinch-hitter, Collin Woody, got hit by a pitch. That brought Levy to bat. Jumping ahead of St. John (4-3) in the count 3-1, Levy crushed a three-run homer over the leftfield wall. Tyler Erwin then struck out the side in the ninth to end the game.

Entering Friday with losses in 13 of their previous 15 games, the Wood Ducks (46-60, 11-25) took a 2-0 lead after three frames. With men at first and second, Eric Jenkins hit an RBI single to left in the second, while Josh Altmann hit his 19th home run one inning later off Matthias Dietz.

The visitors temporarily went ahead in the fourth against Jason Bahr on a two-run homer to right by Wilson Garcia and a solo shot by Preston Palmeiro, but Down East leveled the game a half frame later. Following a leadoff walk and a wild pitch, Chuck Leblanc singled home Brendon Davis. Leblanc then drove home Altmann in the fifth with a base knock.

After the fifth, the Wood Ducks would not score again. Matt Trowbridge (4-1) picked up the win in relief, throwing 2.1 scoreless innings of two-hit baseball. The left-hander struck out two. St. John allowed three runs on three hits in 1.1 innings in the loss, while Erwin picked up his 13th save.

On Saturday the Keys play the middle game of the series against the Wood Ducks. Left-hander Zac Lowther (3-2, 3.04) starts for the Keys and will be opposed by Down East right-hander Rollie Lacy (0-0, --). First pitch is at 6:00 p.m and the broadcast can be heard on frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn App.

Following a six-game roadtrip the Keys return to Nymeo Field from July 31-August 2 when the Potomac Nationals visit for three games. Highlights include a Flying Dog Beer Dinner and Super Splash Day. For ticket information, fans can call the Keys at 301-815-9900 or visit frederickkeys.com.
