Calgary Hitmen News Release

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen welcomed the Lethbridge Hurricanes to the Scotiabank Saddledome for a rare Saturday afternoon matchup.

Down early in the game, Calgary would mount a successful comeback to tie the game but was ultimately upended by a late third period goal from Lethbridge giving the visitors a 4-3 victory.

Two first period goals from Noah Chadwick and Brayden Edwards gave Lethbridge the early lead. Carter Yakemchuk would get Calgary on the board on the power play in the second period, but Lethbridge's two goal lead was restored by Hayden Smith less then five minutes later. The comeback continued with a shorthanded goal from Sean Tschigerl putting Calgary within one heading into the final frame. Yakemchuk would net his second of the game in the third period to tie the game. Looking as though it was heading into extra minutes, Logan Wormald snuck one past Calgary netminder Ethan Buenaventura with just under three minutes to go to secure the win for Lethbridge.

Shots finished 32-26 in favour of Calgary. Carter Yakemchuk earned second star of the game and extended his point streak to four games. The defenceman has been leading the Calgary scoring with 20 points in 18 games.

Calgary is back in the Saddledome tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 26 to host the Kelowna Rockets in their lone meeting of the season. It's another Sunday Funday, presented by Brookfield Residential. In addition to $2 sips and snacks specials all game long, look for concourse activities from TELUS Spark and a cast of characters outfitted by the Costume Shoppe.
