Seattle, Wash. - Two third-period goals in 44 seconds broke a 1-1 deadlock and gave Seattle (45-9-4-1) a 4-1 win over Portland (36-16-2-3) in Kent on Saturday night.

Jeremy Hanzel and Tij Iginla scored 2:12 and 2:56 into the third, respectively, to help the hosts snatch a late victory.

After conceding first in their last three games, the Winterhawks got off on the front foot in Seattle when Marcus Nguyen tallied a shorthanded goal 3:56 into the contest. Gabe Klassen broke up a play in the Hawks' zone, then found the speedy Nguyen streaking up the right-wing side for a breakaway finish.

Seattle returned fire in the second period with a Reid Schaefer power-play goal at 6:12, setting up a 1-1 game heading into the final frame. Lucas Ciona netted a late empty-netter as well.

Portland's Jan Špunar finished with 28 saves in a solid effort between the pipes, while Thomas Milic turned aside 29 pucks in his team's win.

The Winterhawks are back in action next Friday, March 3, in Everett against the Silvertips at 7:00 P.M.
