
Americans Head to Spokane for Rivalry Matchup

Tri-City will faceoff against the Spokane Chiefs tonight at the Spokane Arena. It will be the 8th of 12 matchups this season between the two teams. Tri-City is 5-2-0-0 against the Chiefs so far this season.
They most recently met last Saturday as Tomas Suchanek and the Ams shutout the Chiefs 3-0. It was Tri-City's first shutout of the season. Tri-City's top scorer, Ethan Ernst, leads scoring against the Chiefs with five goals and six assists. Chase Bertholet has been Spokane's best player against the Americans with three goals and seven assists. Tomas Suchanek has played in net for four of Tri-City's five wins against the Chiefs with a 2.14 GAA and .915%.
The Americans opened a weekend on the road with a 6-1 loss last night in Seattle. The Thunderbirds opened scoring just 16 seconds into the game, but the Ams started strong and responded to tie the game just 33 seconds later. Tri-City's lone goal of the night game from Jalen Luypen before Seattle's dominate offense took over. Luypen has three goals this week including last night's and a pair of goals on Wednesday against Everett. Nick Avakyan played in net and turned aside 38 of 44 shots faced.
