Kane County Cougars News Release

GENEVA, IL - Where did the summer go? Well, it's right here at Elfstrom Stadium as the team kicks off an eight-game homestand that includes four consecutive nights of post-game fireworks shows, nationally-recognized entertainers and a slew of free giveaways. Here's a look at the homestand:

Wednesday, August 13 - 6:30 p.m. (DH beginning at 4 p.m.)

The homestand kicks off with some bonus baseball, as the Cougars and Cedar Rapids Kernels will resume a rain-shortened July 7 contest which began at the home of the Kernels and was halted in the fourth inning. A total of 220 miles and more than five weeks later, the teams will continue play in Geneva. Following the completion of that game, the regularly scheduled contest will begin no earlier than 6:30 p.m. and will be a seven-inning affair, in accordance with Midwest League rules. The first 2,000 fans through the stadium gates receive a MINI-BAT PEN, courtesy of the Kane County Beacon News. It's also Kids Day, as the Beacon News held a contest to give kids the opportunity to join the Cougars' gameday staff for a game. We'll have contest winners assisting the Cougars in various duties, including P.A. announcer, groundskeeper, and batkid. Following the game, fans will be treated to a post-game FIREWORKS SHOW choreographed to disco music. Even if you're not wearing bell bottoms, fans may RUN THE BASES, presented by Allstate after fireworks.

Thursday, August 14 - 6:30 p.m.

It's our final 2K Day at the ballpark this season, sponsored by Old Second Bank. Nerd is the word as MYRON NOODLEMAN returns for his final appearance at Elfstrom Stadium in 2008. Flashing the ever-present buck teeth, Myron spares no expense to get the crowd laughing and has been known to mess with the players and umpires. Some of today's biggest hits serve as the musical backdrop for a popular music FIREWORKS SHOW. Take a lap and RUN THE BASES following the game.

Friday, August 15 - 6:30 p.m.

One of the final summer weekends of the season kicks off with a bang this Friday. The first 2,000 kids age 14 and under will get a great giveaway as the Cougars will be handing out ADRIAN GONZALEZ COUGARS REPLICA JERSEYS. One of the Cougars' most popular alumni, Gonzo was a 2008 Major League All-Star and is on pace for a fantastic season for the San Diego Padres. Fans will get their fill of laughs as the ZOOPERSTARS make an appearance. It's been quite a summer for the popular mascot troupe, who performed at Wrigley Field as part of the Cougars game last month. Then just last week, the Zooperstars were on national TV, performing on the show America's Got Talent. After the game, fans can go back a couple of decades for our '80's themed FIREWORKS SHOW. All fans can take the field and RUN THE BASES after the game.

Saturday, August 16 - 6 p.m.

The affordable family fun continues as the Cougars are handing out SOFTEE BASEBALLS for the first 2,000 fans, sponsored by Fisher Nuts. Perfect for catch in the front yard or some batting practice, the softee baseballs might also make good autographed souvenirs as the Cougars present a pre-game AUTOGRAPH SESSION with the Kane County team, sponsored by Drumstick. Don't leave the game early! Immediately following the game's conclusion, the MARCHING COBRAS invade the Elfstrom Stadium infield. The best way to describe the Cobras? Vivid colors, intense drumming, and a flawless dance routine that is unmatched by any group in the country. Marking their only performance in Kane County this season, the Cobras have performed in front of three U.S. presidents and have crossed international borders to entertain people in France and Morocco. Air guitars are allowed from the seats as the Cougars light up the sky with a classic rock-themed FIREWORKS SHOW. Strut your stuff by RUNNING THE BASES after fireworks.

Sunday, August 17 - 2 p.m.

Day baseball returns to the yard as the Cougars host a mid-afternoon affair against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. The first 2,000 fans through the gates receive a logo baseball, courtesy of Pepsi. During the game, fans will be entertained by the amazing abilities of THE RUBBERBOY. It's the first-ever trip to Elfstrom Stadium for the nationally-known contortionist, who hails from Mississippi. According to his website, The Rubberboy knew he was special at a young age when he jumped off the top of his bunk bed - and landed in a split. Ouch. The 5-foot-8, 135-pounder has been featured on ESPN, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and has been known to climb through an unstrung tennis racket. After the game, both contortionists and non-contortionists can RUN THE BASES.

Monday, August 18 - 6:30 p.m.

Man's best friend is our best friend as the Cougars present BARK IN THE PARK. Dogs and their owners are allowed into Elfstrom Stadium on this night only as we open up the right field lawn for your favorite four-legger to enjoy a night at the ballpark. Before the game at 6 p.m. we'll welcome all dogs onto the field for our PRE-GAME PET PARADE. Your favorite four-legger will definitely enjoy the walk around our field. During the game, dogs and owners will sit in our right field lawn area - a perfect spot for everyone to enjoy the game. We'll have water and doggie-aid stations in close proximity to the lawn. We'll also be on the lookout for the best-dressed, smallest and largest dog, as possible prize winners. After the game, all dogs are allowed back onto the field to RUN THE BASES. It's an Elfstrom Stadium tradition that goes back to our beginnings in 1991. On this night, dogs are welcome to take part as well!

Tuesday, August 19 - 1 p.m.

The Cougars are serving up a BUSINESS PERSON'S SPECIAL to close the homestand. Weekday baseball means a half-day at work, a catered picnic for your group of 50 or more, and a chance to enjoy a ballgame before the summer slams the door shut. The first 2,000 fans will receive COMPACT FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULBS, courtesy of C.U.B. After the game, fans can touch 'em all and RUN THE BASES.

Come check the Cougars out before the summer's a wrap! Fans can order tickets for any game this homestand by calling the box office at (630) 232-8811 or visiting www.kccougars.com.
