COMSTOCK PARK - Several West Michigan Whitecaps players and staff members will be among those helping to build a condominium structure for Habitat for Humanity. It is one of several summer projects that have been undertaken this year by Habitat for Humanity of West Michigan. Players and staff members will be working on the Dawes Court Condominiums on Thursday, August 14 from 10 a.m. until noon. The site is located south of 28th Street and east of Kalamazoo Avenue. DTE Energy has made $50,000 in contributions to Habitat for Humanity this year. In addition, for every run that the Whitecaps score at home this season, DTE Energy will donate $10 to Habitat for Humanity. The Whitecaps have scored 220 runs at home this year going into Wednesday's 7:00 p.m. game against Lansing. Spokesperson Roger Royer of DTE Energy explained the partnership with Habitat for Humanity. "It demonstrates the cooperation and concern that DTE Energy and the Whitecaps have for the communities they serve." The Dawes Court Condominiums will be completed in the coming weeks and will house four families as part of a complex that is planned to accommodate a total of 16 families.
