Clinton LumberKings News Release

Clinton, IA - Clinton LumberKings' manager Mike Micucci and former first-baseman Ian Gac (now with high-A Bakersfield) appear in the current edition of Baseball America, the magazine's yearly "Best Tools" edition. Micucci was rated as the "Best Manager Prospect" in the Midwest League, while Gac was tops in the "Best Power" category.

Micucci, 36, guided the LumberKings to a 41-26 record in the first half, locking up the West Division title and a playoff spot for the second consecutive season. Under his guidance, the Kings have led the Midwest League in total hitting for nearly the entire season and have ranked near the third spot in pitching.

Gac, 23, hit .310 with 19 home runs and 70 RBI in 67 games with the LumberKings prior to being promoted to Bakersfield on June 26th. He left the league with the lead in both homers and RBI, and was runner-up in the 2008 Midwest League All-Star Home Run Derby to Fort Wayne's Felix Carrasco.

Micucci's LumberKings open a three-game series with the Burlington Bees tonight, first pitch from Alliant Energy Field scheduled for 7 PM. Listen to the game on AM 1340 KROS in Clinton or live on the web at www.lumberkings.com.
