South Carolina Stingrays News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC The South Carolina Stingrays welcomed the arrival of Aaron Schneekloth and Brent Henley today. The two Stingrays attended American Hockey League training camp with the Worcester Ice Cats last week. Both will be available to the Rays tonight, when the team plays its first preseason game with the Pee Dee Pride, in Florence, SC.
Schneekloth played nine games with the Rays last season, after completing a four-year career with the North Dakota Fighting Sioux. The native of Calgary, Alberta had a goal and five assists for six points in his nine games with the Rays. In his senior year with the Sioux, he netted eight goals and added 21 assists for 29 points in 35 games.
Henley a 6'7"- 245lb. defenseman from Coquitlam, British Columbia, promises to add some toughness to the Stingrays blue line this season. He racked up 188 penalty minutes in 50 games with the Gold Kings while scoring three goals and three assists.
Rookie Robin Gomez is still attending the Portland Pirates training camp.
Less than 500 Tickets Left for Saturday!
Saturday night's crowd for the Ray's home preseason game against the Pee Dee Pride is fast approaching capacity. Fewer than 500 tickets remained as of Friday afternoon. The North Charleston Coliseum holds 10,500 fans for hockey. On Tuesday, the Coliseum announced that tickets to Saturday's game, as well as parking would be free.
"The level of excitement surrounding Saturdays game is extremely high," noted team President Sean O'Connell. "Even though it is a preseason game, it will be intense with over 10,000 fans in the building."
The Stingrays home opener is October 19, when the team hosts the Columbus Cottonmouths.
