Grrrowl rally for first pre-season victory

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Greenville Grrrowl rallied for a 3-2 win over the Charlotte Checkers in East Coast Hockey League pre-season action Friday night at Cricket Arena in Charlotte.

The Checkers brought a 1-0 lead into the third period, but MATT DEMARSKI helped the Grrrowl rally with 2 goals and 1 assist in the third period. Demarski scored Greenville's first goal of the pre-season at 2:11 of the third period, and tied the game in the process. The Checkers took a 2-1 lead with a shorthanded goal at 5:28 of the third period. But Demarski tied the game with a powerplay goal at 9:18 of the third as he buried a rebound after a shot from ERIC LIND. Demarski then scored the game-winner at 15:27 of the final frame after a scramble in front of the Checkers net.

Charlotte outshot Greenville 34-32. The Grrrowl improve to 1-1-0 in the pre-season, which continues with the 4-team, 4-on-4 "Dog Day Challenge" beginning at 10:00 AM Saturday morning.
