October 4, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. â The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League are preparing to host their Highway 99 rivals, the Fresno Falcons on Saturday, October 5th at Centennial Garden. Game time is 7:00pm.
The game, sponsored by Real Rock 104.3 and the Holiday Inn Select, is a preview of this season's team, which is currently in the middle of training camp. Every fan that comes out will receive a Condors Cheer Shaker. The Fresno Falcons won the Taylor Cup last season as the champions of the WCHL, and are playing in their only match of the preseason.
The Condors roster has been paired down to 25 players, with two goaltenders, nine defensemen and 14 forwards. Several positions have yet to be determined. The game will allow only 20 players in the lineup - 18 skaters and two goaltenders. Both netminders are expected to play in the contest. The game comes a week before the Condors official start of their 5th Anniversary Season, on October 12th, also against Fresno at home.
"The preseason game is going to be an opportunity for Marty (Associate Coach Marty Raymond) and I to see some of our young guys in a game situation," said Condors Head Coach Paul Kelly. "We're not going to show Fresno too much, but we want to be able to assess where we're at."
The 2002-03 season opener is eight days away with the Condors hosting the reigning Taylor Cup Champion Fresno Falcons at Centennial Garden on Saturday, October 12th. Season tickets and mini-plans are now available, with packages starting as low as $42. For more information, contact the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825), or visit the Condors office at Centennial Garden.
