Tanner Bushue allowed five hits through eight innings and Telvin Nash and Daniel Adamson homered as the Lexington Legends gained a split of their four-game series with Hagerstown by beating the Suns 7-0 Thursday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The Legends pounded out 14 hits in the game, and every Lexington batter had at least one.
The Legends got started early with two runs and five hits in the first inning. Delino DeShields Jr. led off with a single and moved to second on a base hit by Jiovanni Mier. Chris Wallace hit into a force play, and Nash lined out to right field, but Mike Kvasnicka singled to right, scoring DeShields. Enrique Hernandez followed with an infield hit to load the bases, and Adam Bailey's single scored Chris Wallace, who had reached on a force play.
In the fourth inning, Adamson led off with a home run to left center field to give the Legends a 3-0 lead. With two outs, Mier singled and scored on a double by Wallace. Nash, playing his first game of the season after being on the disabled list due to a groin injury, homered to left field to make the score 6-0.
The Legends added their final run in the seventh on a double by Kvasnicka, a single by Hernandez and a sacrifice fly by Adam Bailey.
Bushue (1-0) got the win in the longest outing of his professional career. Brian Streilein worked a scoreless ninth while allowing one hit. Hagerstown starter Matt Grace (1-1), who gave up 11 hits in four innings, was the losing pitcher. The Legends, now 4-4, will open a four-game series in Asheville Friday night. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
