First Home Stand Ends with Braves Victory

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Augusta GreenJackets 4-2 Thursday night in front of 2,028 fans at State Mutual Stadium. Rome finished the home stand strong with three wins over Augusta in their four game series.

Rome took an early 2-0 lead in the third on an RBI double by Elmer Reyes scoring Keenan Wiley who had walked earlier in the inning. The second run scored on another RBI double by Christian Bethancourt to score Reyes.

In the sixth Rome added two runs thanks to RBI doubles by Jakob Dalfanso and Barrett Kleinknecht giving the Braves a 4-0 lead. Augusta posted two on the board in the bottom of the seventh on a two run home run by Devin Harris cutting the lead 4-2.

Dan Jurik came on in relief and held Augusta scoreless for the remainder of the game to secure the win.

Rome starter Steven Kent (1-1) pitched an outstanding game going seven innings giving up two earned runs, six hits while striking out four to pick up his first win of the season. Seth Rosin (0-1) gets the loss for the GreenJackets. Dan Jurik recorded his first save of the year.

The Braves will be on the road next week traveling to Charleston and Greensboro. The next home game will be on Monday April 25 at 7pm.
