Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (April 14, 2011) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, the Class A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, take the field at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium for the first time in 2011 on Friday, April 15 against a Northern Division rival, the Hickory Crawdads. The franchise, which is celebrating its 10th Anniversary season under the "Intimidators" nickname, is going into its 17th season playing baseball in Kannapolis.
Friday's home opener is Girl Scout Night at the ballpark. In addition, the first 1,000 fans who attend Friday night's game will receive a 2011 magnet schedule courtesy of Pizza Hut. The souvenir magnet schedules will also be available to the first 1,000 fans on Saturday and Sunday.
The first post-game fireworks show of the season will be Saturday, April 16, presented by CMC-NorthEast, and the Intimidators will be debuting the team's new alternate logo with the scripted "I" logo featuring a silhouette of former team owner and NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt.
Sunday, April 17, will be the first Kids Day of the season presented by Zamitti Orthodontics, where young Intimidators fans can collect autographs from players before the game and run the bases afterward. Kids can also play in the Dave & Busters ballpark midway, which will be set up on Sundays all season long. This game will feature the opportunity to get airbrush tattoos and participate in a princess party on the concourse.
The Intimdiators will host Belly Buster Monday on April 18, giving fans a chance to enjoy all-you-can-eat access at the main concession stand (excluding candy and drinks). April 19 is the first of our KRAFT Singles Tuesday Night Tickets offer, where fans can purchase two tickets for the price of one with KRAFT proof of purchase at the box office. Tuesday's game is also Senior Night, and we'll be playing Baseball Bingo throughout the game.
Wednesday, April 20 is the first of three Education Days, presented by CMC-NorthEast, with a 10:05 a.m. start time. Each season the Intimidators allow local schools to bring their students to Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium to enjoy a game.
The ever-popular Thirsty Thursday promotion returns for the 2011 season. Fans can take advantage of great discount drink specials, including 32 oz. drafts for $5.00 and 12 oz. can beer for only $2.00. This season the Intimidators offer a 24 oz. souvenir refillable cup that fans can purchase on Thursdays for only $5.00 and can refill the cup for only $2.00 at Thursday games throughout the season. The new "PBR Pub" features 16 oz. Pabst Blue Ribbons for only $1.50.
The Intimidators are offering a Family Fun Night Package on Friday, April 22, which includes four tickets, a large popcorn, and four sodas for only $30. The Intimidators will offer different Family Fun Night offers on select Friday nights throughout the 2011 season.
The annual "Baseball & BBQ Bash" to benefit the Joan Roberts Ovarian Cancer Foundation will be on Saturday, April 23. Fans can arrive early to sample the BBQ from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the ballpark parking lot. Wristbands for the BBQ Bash are only $5.00 with purchase of a game ticket, and all proceeds from BBQ wristbands will go to the Joan Roberts Ovarian Cancer Foundation. Kannapolis will wear its new "Victory Pose" logo featuring Dale Earnhardt on April 23 to celebrate what would have been the original Intimidator's 60th birthday on April 29.
The Intimidators open at home on Friday, April 15 against the Hickory Crawdads at 7:05 p.m. at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. The team is currently 5-1 on its season-opening road trip to Lakewood and Delmarva. Season and single-game tickets are available by calling (704) 932-3267 or visiting www.IntimidatorsBaseball.com.
