CHARLESTON, WV - The West Virginia Power scored three runs in the fourth inning while only recording one hit to take a three-run lead in route to a 8-5 victory over the Lexington Legends. David Fonseca drove in two runs in the inning with his second home run of the season.

West Virginia jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with two runs in second inning. Steffan Wilson led off the inning with a walk and moved to third on Eric Fryer's double. Wilson scored on a groundout from Curt Rindal and Fryer came home on a groundout from Fonseca.

Lexington tied the game in the third inning with two runs of its own. Cat Everett singled and Brandon Barnes and Matt Cusick walked to load the bases. Craig Corrado struck out for the second out in the inning, but Eric Taylor drove Everett and Barnes home with a single to center.

West Virginia took the lead for good in the fourth after Wilson walked and Fryer was hit by a pitch from Lexington starting pitcher Anthony Bello to start the inning. Rindal grounded into a force out, moving Wilson to third and replacing Fryer at first. Wilson then scored on a wild pitch and Fryer drove Rindal home with his two-run home run to left.

The Legends pulled within a run with two in the sixth on a long-ball of their own. Brian Pellegrini lead off the inning with a single and scored on Jonathan Fixler's fourth home run of the season. Fixler had entered the game as a defensive replacement for Max Sapp.

Curt Rindal lead off the sixth with a home run for the sixth Power tally of the game. Caleb Gindal drove Eric Farris home with a single in the seventh for the seventh run of the game.

Both teams scored single runs in the eight to reach the final score. Pellegrini was hit by a pitch to lead off the Lexington eighth, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error from catcher Eric Fryer. Pellegrini scored on a wild pitch from Rob Bryson.

Eric Farris scored his second run of the game on a single from Gindl in the bottom of the eight. Fernando Abad entered the game for Lexington with two men on and two outs. Abad surrendered a single to Gindl that plated Farris, but the Lexington defense threw Zelous Wheeler out at home to end the inning.

Anthony Bello took the loss for Lexington after surrendering five runs in three and two-thirds innings. Daniel Merklinger pitched five innings of four-run ball to earn the win for West Virginia, and Curtis Pasma pitched a perfect ninth for his first save of the season.
