Hickory Crawdads News Release
Game one of a five-game series between the Hickory Crawdads and the Augusta GreenJackets has been canceled due to rain. The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday night at 6.
First pitch was originally scheduled for 7 p.m. as former South Caldwell High School standout Madison Bumgarner returned home to Hickory to face the Crawdads' Rafael De Los Santos.
But after rain pummeled L.P. Frans Stadium just before first pitch and made the field unplayable, the decision was made to scrap the Friday night contest.
The teams get back to action with a pair of 7-inning games to be played back-to-back Saturday beginning at 6 p.m., with pitching matchups still to be determined.
Fans with tickets to Friday's rainout will have the opportunity to redeem them for tickets to any Crawdads home game in 2008, with certain upgrade charges and restrictions applied to certain game dates.
