DES MOINES, IA - After a 13-point first quarter, the Texas Legends (14-25) fought from behind the remainder of the game. The visitors finished with 45 in the fourth, but the efforts fell short against the Iowa Wolves (16-24) 111-121.
Donte Ingram opened the night with a long ball to give Texas the first lead. Iowa answered with an 18-2 run and shut down Texas' shooting to finish the first up 28-13. The Wolves' hot streak continued in the second as they built up a 25-point advantage heading into the locker room.
Facing a 28-point deficit heading into the final minutes, Texas' bench took over. Trahson Burrell powered out 18 points, hitting 4-of-6 outside and Vander Blue finished with 10. With just under four minutes to play Texas pulled within nine, but the Wolves fought back and held off the visitors' rally attempts.
Texas' offensive efforts were fueled by the bench with Burrell leading at 20 points, 7 rebounds followed closely by Blue with 19. Nate Mason also added 17 points, 4 assists in the rotation while Billy Preston grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds in his debut with the Legends. Keith Hornsby led the starters with 12 and Ingram added 10 points, 4 rebounds.
Darius Johnson-Odom had a game-high 24 points for the Wolves while adding 4 rebounds, 5 assists. Brandon Goodwin (18 points, 13 rebounds), Thomas Welsh (18 points, 12 rebounds), and Hakim Warrick (14 points, 10 rebounds) all added double-doubles for the home team.
