House Jr. Buzzer Beater Gives Vipers Win against OKC in Overtime

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (27-13) win in overtime at Oklahoma City Blue (25-13), 122-120. Tonight's game was the first time both teams went to overtime this season. Chris Walker becomes the Vipers franchise leader in games played with 182 games after tonight's appearance.
The matchup was close in the first half. Houston Rockets two-way player, Danuel House Jr. led the half with 21 points and went 6-9 from the arc. Rockets assignee, Isaiah Hartenstein, totaled eight points, eight rebounds and three assists. For the Blue, Kevin Hervey earned a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Dez Wells totaled 15 points adding two assists and two steals.
The intensity of the game continued in the second half as both teams were fighting for second-place in the Western conference. For the Vipers, House Jr. racked up a career-high of 39 points adding four rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks. He also shot 10-20 from the arc. Hartenstein earned a double-double with 22 points, 18 rebounds and adding four assists. Gary Payton II tallied 10 defensive rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Wells led OKC with 27 points, six assists and three steals. Hervey added more to his double-double as he totaled 21 points and 21 rebounds adding on three assists and four blocks. Abdul Gaddy also earned a double-double for OKC as he racked up 16 points and 10 assists. KJ McDaniels fell short on a double-double with 17 points and eight rebounds. He also added five steals to his stat sheet.
The Vipers will be giving away Replica Vipers Jerseys to the first 500 guests, sponsored by Lone Star National Bank, as they return to Bert Ogden Arena for the last home game of the month.
