Kansas City, KS-----Kansas City scored a run in the eighth to come from behind to defeat the Explorers 5-4 here Monday. It was a run-scoring double by Hunter Mense in the eighth inning that scored Trevor Coleman with the winning run.

The Explorers led most of the way, scoring two un-earned runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. Brian Bistange drove home Mike Murphy in the fourth and the X's had a 3-0 lead.

The only run off Explorers starter Richard Salazar was a solo home run by Gus Milner in the fifth inning to cut the Explorers lead to 3-1. In the top of the seventh inning, Kris Sanchez led off the frame with a home run to left field, his 10th of the season that gave the Explorers a 4-1 advantage.

However, the T-Bones scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 4-4 to setup the winning run in the eighth. That winning run came off losing hurler Jon Plefka (0-2) while the win went to relief pitcher Steve Kent (4-2). Mike Medlich pitched the ninth for Kansas City to record his sixth save of the year.

With the win, Kansas City extended their winning streak to four-games while the Explorers had their two-game winning streak snapped. The second game of the three-game series will be played Tuesday at Kansas City with game time 7:05.
