Pheasants Sign Outfielder Barbero

SIOUX FALLS -The Sioux Falls Pheasants have signed outfielder Daniel Barbero, manager Steve Shirley announced on Monday.

The Pheasants also placed shortstop Cory Morales on the disabled list due to an ankle sprain, retroactive to July 7.

Barbero, 29, appeared in 22 games with the Winnipeg Goldeyes this season and batted .350 with one home run and eight RBI. The left-handed native of Loudonville, N.Y., began playing professionally in 2010 with the now-defunct Pittsfield Colonials of the Can-Am League.

He is a career .299 hitter with a .429 on-base percentage.

Morales has hit .335 in 46 games with six home runs and 30 RBI. He leads all shortstops in the league with a .984 fielding percentage.
