LaPorta off to Olympics

The Aeros made a roster move today, placing OF Matt LaPorta on the temporary inactive list and receiving OF Ryan Goleski from Class A Kinston.

LaPorta has left the team to begin preparations for the Olympic baseball tournament, and is not expected back until roughly the final week of the regular season. The Olympics run from August 8th-24th, with the baseball competition beginning August 13th. He hit .212 with one homer and seven RBI in 14 games for Akron after being acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers as part of the CC Sabathia trade July 8th.

Goleski returns to Akron following a brief six-game stint with Kinston, during which he batted .211 with a double and a solo home run. The native of Warren, MI is hitting .241 with eight home runs and 24 RBI in 74 games with the Aeros this season.
