Trenton Thunder News Release
(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, will partner with 33's Barber Shop on special fund raisers at the games on Tuesday, August 12 and Tuesday, August 19. Stylists from 33's Barber Shop will offer haircuts at the ballpark in exchange for a donation to the Grand Slam We Care Foundation.
The Grand Slam We Care Foundation is the 501 (c) 3 charitable arm of the Thunder and its sister team, the Lakewood BlueClaws. At the conclusion of the 2007 season the Thunder had donated in excess of $3 million worth of goods, services and monetary donations, through a variety of community programs.
"33's Barber Shop wanted to use its partnership with the Thunder to make a difference," said Thunder Assistant General Manager Greg Coleman. "This fund raiser is a great way to give back to the community, and it'll provide a nice service to fans that can save time by combining their haircuts with a ballgame."
33's Barber Shop, located on Route 33 in Hamilton, is known for its fun environment, seven-day-a-week hours and great styles for all ages. 33's offers video games in the guest waiting area and kids can even have their hair cut while sitting in a replica Batmobile.
The Thunder and 33's Barber Shop also partner on a season-long initiative to honor area students for excelling in the classroom and in other pursuits like athletics, music and volunteer service. Once per homestand, the Thunder recognize the 33's Barber Shop "Cut Above Kid" prior to the baseball game. Anyone can nominate a "Cut Above Kid" in person at 33's Barber Shop. Nominations for the 2008 "Cut Above Kid" program will be accepted through July 31.
Tickets to all Trenton Thunder games are available by calling 609-394-3300 or can be purchased online at www.trentonthunder.com.
