Langbehn Signs Contract Extension
June 29, 2012 - Frontier League (FL)
Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums are excited to announce that the team has signed manager Gregg Langbehn to a contract extension through the 2014 season.
By finalizing the deal the Beach Bums locked up the man who has guided Traverse City to the most wins in team history as well as the only skipper to lead TC to a playoff appearance.
"This was a deal that we wanted to get done early in the year," said Langbehn. "That was something that I talked about with John and Leslye (Wuerfel) back in 2008; that this was a long-term commitment that we wanted to make, not a stop gap."
The announcement comes on the heels of the best start in Beach Bums history as Traverse City currently holds the best record in the Frontier League at 26-12.
"It's a great situation," Langbehn said of working with the Beach Bums. "I like this league, it gets better every year, there's a good working relationship with the ownership. Traverse City is a great community, it's a great ballpark and I'm proud to be a part of it."
The Beach Bums wrap up a six-game homestand tonight against Washington before heading out to Schaumberg for a three-game showdown against the West Division leading Boomers. Traverse City returns home to face the Normal CornBelters July 3-5 with the July Fourth being the Beach Bums annual Welcome Home Celebration, including fireworks presented by Team Bob's.
