Evansville Otters News Release
(LOVES PARK, Illinois) --- The Evansville Otters scored the first 10 runs of the game and held on late in a 16-11 win at the Rockford RiverHawks on Friday night.
Evansville started the scoring with two runs in the second inning, five more in the third, and three extra runs in the fourth inning.
Outfielders DeAngelo Mack and Luis Uribe hit back to back home runs in the second and Mack struck again in the next inning with another two-run single.
The 10-0 lead was short-lived though as Rockford came back with a run in the fourth inning and five more in the fifth.
Evansville's lead shrunk to 10-6 in the sixth inning when the game entered a 45-minute lightning delay.
After the game resumed, Evansville would add three runs in the seventh only to see Rockford rally back for just as many runs in the bottom half.
Ahead 13-9, the Otters would plate two more runs in the eighth, holding on for the eventual 16-11 win.
Evansville is now 16-23 with the win, as Rockford drops to 14-24 with the loss.
The Otters tied a season-high with 16 hits as eight different players recorded at least one hit in the win.
Evansville will now return home to Bosse Field and host the Windy City Thunderbolts on Saturday night. It is Insight Night at the ballpark with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m.
