Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The Lakewood BlueClaws dropped their 7th and 8th consecutive games with 2 losses on Friday night. Lakewood fell 6-1 after the completion of the game that was suspended from Thursday night, and then lost 3-0 in the 2nd game. Lakewood just couldn't string together enough base hits in either ball game to scratch across enough runs to break their losing streak.

In the first game, Lakewood committed a season high 6 errors and couldn't make up a 4-0 deficit. Jesse Biddle got the loss for Lakewood to fall to 3-6. He threw 4.2 innings, allowed 5 hits, 4 runs/3 earned, walked 4, and struck out 1. Zach Collier was 2-4 with Lakewood and scored their only run of the game. Jim Murphy had his 16 game hitting streak snapped as he went 0-4.

Garett Claypool threw an absolute gem in the second game for the BlueClaws going 6 shutout innings and allowing only 3 hits and striking out 6. Unfortunately, Lakewood just couldn't scratch across any runs against 2 very good pitchers for West Virginia. Starter Brandon Cumpton went 5 innings, allowed 5 hits and 5 strike outs and reliever Casey Sadler threw 3 shutout innings and just 1 hit. Sadler got the win, and Juan Sosa who allowed 3 runs on 3 hits over 2 innings got the loss for Lakewood. Domingo Santana was 2-3 and Carlos Perdomo was 2-4 in the game for the BlueClaws.

Saturday the two teams will be back at it for the 3rd and final game of their 3 game series. RHP Lisalberto Bonilla (0-1, 1.07 ERA) will make his first start of the year for the BlueClaws, and LHP Colton Cain (4-5, 3.38 ERA) will throw for the Power. First Pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm on Saturday.
