Tonight: The first place Gnats, SAL affiliate of the New York Mets, play game two of a three-game series and a seven-game home stand against the Augusta GreenJackets, SAL affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Savannah is seven games over .500 for the first time in 2011.

Last Night: The Gnats scored five times in the bottom of the seventh inning to overcome a 3-0 deficit on their way to a 5-3 win over the GreenJackets. Aderlin Rodriguez drove home the go-ahead runs with a flair to right field.

Now Pitching: RHP Greg Peavey, who is 12th in the SAL in ERA (3.27), is scheduled to make his 13th start tonight. Peavey has the third-lowest unintentional walk rate among starters in the South Atlantic League with just 1.50 BB-IBB/9 IP (11 BB/66 IP). In his last start in Asheville, Peavey allowed five runs in six innings. The five runs he allowed tied a season high, while the two home runs he yielded were his most in a game this year. Before his last start, he had given up just one home run in 60 innings all year. The Mets drafted Peavey in the 6th round in 2010 out of Oregon State. As a Beaver in 2010, Peavey was an All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention and a two-time conference Player of the Week. Peavey had been drafted twice before: in the 24th round in 2007 out of Hudson's Bay High School by the New York Yankees and in the 32nd round in 2009 by the Houston Astros. In high school, he was named Washington's Class 3A baseball Player of the Year in 2007. Peavey had national-level success before high school, helping the Hazel Dell Metro Little League team to the Little League World Series in 2000, and the Hazel Dell Metro Babe Ruth Championship teams in 2001 and 2002. The Gnats are 6-6 when Peavey starts and have supported him with 4.58 runs per game, the most of any Savannah starter.

Standings Update: The Gnats lead the Greenville Drive by 3.5 games for first place with 10 games to play in the first half. Savannah's magic number, the combination of Savannah wins and Greenville losses, to clinch the first half title, is seven. The Asheville Tourists are 4.5 games behind the Gnats, while the Lexington Legends, who have lost three games in a row, are 5.5 games back. The Gnats end the first half with four games in Greenville.

See, It's Ceciliani: Darrell Ceciliani has hit safely in his last eight games, going .375 (12-for-32) with two doubles, a home run, one walk and seven strikeouts in that span. He's raised his batting average 32 points from .225 at the start of his streak to .257 today.

Livin' on the Edge: Closer Josh Edgin, who worked a 1-2-3 ninth with two strikeouts last night, is second in the SAL in saves (13), and third among SAL relievers in both lowest batting average against (.140) and strikeout rate (13 K/9 IP). Edgin has not allowed a run in his last 13 appearances and has not allowed an earned run since April 26, a span of 15 appearances.

Tovar Turning it On: Wilfredo Tovar has hit safely in his last eight games going 12-28 (.429) with a two doubles, two walks and one strikeout. He's raised his batting average 33 points, from .185 at the start of his streak to .218 today.

Strong Arms: The Gnats still have the SAL's best ERA (3.25), and are now second in WHIP (1.25) and strikeouts (514) and have allowed the third-fewest hits (476) in the League.

Vs. Augusta: The Gnats are 4-1 against the GreenJackets in 2011, 3-1 in Augusta and 1-0 at home. The two teams are scheduled for 21 games, 10 in Augusta, and 11 in Savannah. The Gnats were 9-14 against Augusta last year, 4-7 at home and 5-7 on the road.
