
USA Baseball Collegiate National Team to Face Japan in Kannapolis

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (June 10, 2011) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, and USA Baseball have announced that the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team and Japan Collegiate All-Stars will play the fourth game of their 38th Collegiate All-Star Series at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium in Kannapolis, N.C., on July 6, at 7:05 p.m. ET presented by the City of Kannapolis and the Cabarrus County Convention Visitors Bureau.
Tickets for the game are currently on sale through the Kannapolis Intimidators ticket office with $9 reserved-level seats and $7 general admission seats. Fans can save a dollar on each ticket by purchasing in advance of the game.
"The Intimidators are excited to again host the Collegiate National Team this season," said Intimidators General Manager Randy Long. "We consider it a privilege for our fans and our community to host not only America's top collegians but also to showcase such strong international talent."
The Collegiate National Team will play Japan in a five-game series from July 3-8, with the first three games being played in the Triangle- area of North Carolina, and the fifth and final game being held in the new TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb. The series is part of the Collegiate Team's 2011 summer schedule, beginning June 22.
The Collegiate National Team last played in Kannapolis in 2009. In that contest, 2010 5th overall draft pick Drew Pomeranz pitched the team to a 15-1 victory over a Guatemala National Team. Former first overall pick Stephen Strasburg has also played for the Collegiate National Team in Kannapolis.
