Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers collected nine hits, but the Lake County Captains picked up a 4-1 victory at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. The win gave the Captains a win in the series as they took two-of-three from Wisconsin.
Lake County (27-27) scored first with a run in the top of the second inning. Bobby Bradley tripled off the wall in left field to start the inning. He scored on a wild pitch by Wisconsin starting pitcher Joshua Torres for a 1-0 lead.
Grant Fink made it 3-0 in favor of the Captains with a two-run home run in the third. Francisco Mejia started the inning with a double. Fink followed with his second home run of the season.
The Captains took a 4-0 lead in the fifth. Torres walked Mejia to start the inning and got the next two outs. But, Yu-Cheng Chang would drive in Mejia with a double.
Wisconsin (16-39) got on the board with one out in the fifth inning. Alan Sharkey doubled and scored on a single by Tucker Neuhaus. Monte Harrison was next and set a deep drive to right, but David Armendariz made a lunging catch on the track for the second out of the inning. Neuhaus was around second and halfway to third as Armendariz fired the ball back to the infield for an easy double play to end the inning.
The Timber Rattlers out hit the Captains 9-5, but Lake County's defense turned a total of four double plays in the game to hold the Rattlers to one run. Plus, four of Lake County's hits went for extra-bases.
Dustin DeMuth had two more hits for the Rattlers on Friday night. He went 7-for-10 in the series with the Captains. Sharkey and Francisco Castillo also had two hits in the game for the Timber Rattlers.
Wisconsin's bullpen was stellar in the game. Josh Uhen entered the game in relief of Torres in the fifth inning and would retire all ten batters he faced, including two via strikeout. Tyler Linehan pitched a 1-2-3 top of the ninth inning in relief of Uhen.
The loss knocked the Rattlers to a season-low 23 games under .500. They are also just 8-24 at home, with just three home games left in the first half.
The Timber Rattlers welcome the Fort Wayne TinCaps to town on Saturday night. Devin Williams (0-3, 5.17) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Thomas Dorminy (5-3, 4.27) is scheduled to start for the TinCaps. Game time is 6:35pm.
Characters from the science fiction classic come home for Star Wars Night at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium on Saturday night. There will be a chance to meet and take pictures with them. The Timber Rattlers players and coaches will be wearing Star Wars-themed jerseys during the game. Proceeds from the silent auction for the jerseys will go to Make-A-Wish ® of Wisconsin. Stick around after the game for a great FOX 11 Fireworks display.
If you can't make it out to the ballpark, there are several ways to catch the action. MyNEW 32's Sports Showdown will televise the game starting at 6:30pm. The radio broadcast is on AM1280, WNAM starting with the Miller Lite Pregame Show at 6:15. The broadcast may also be heard on Tune In Radio and IHeartRadio.
