Beloit Falls to Fort Wayne
June 5, 2015 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT, Wisc.- The Fort Wayne TinCaps followed their walk off loss last night with a 10-5 win over the Snappers at Pohlman Field to even up the series.
The game didn't go Beloit's way from the very start of the game. In the first at bat, Fort Wayne's Ruddy Girron homered on a fly ball to left field off of Snappers starter, Heath Fillmyer, to put the TinCaps up early, 1-0.
For a little bit, the Snappers followed suit when Yairo Munoz struck back with a solo homer (7) in the bottom of the first to tie the game up at 1-1.
Fort Wayne started to pull away in the second when a triple by Edwin Moreno and a sacrifice fly from Miguel del Castillo allowed the TinCaps to score two runs and take the lead again, making the score 3-1.
In the fourth, Munoz continued to do his part offensively by driving in Trent Gilbert with a single on a ground ball to center field, bringing the Snappers to within one run with a score of 3-2.
Jerad Grundy came in to relieve Heath Fillmyer in the fifth but the TinCaps still added two runs, extending their lead to three. Fort Wayne made the score 6-2 by scoring another run in the seventh.
The Snappers' catcher, Argenis Raga hit a triple to the center field wall in the seventh to plate Jose Brizuela. At this point, the game was still within reach for Beloit as they were only down by three runs with the score at 6-3.
With Carlos Navas pitching, Fort Wayne pretty much ruined the comeback hopes for Beloit, even though crazier things have happened. They just weren't going to happen tonight for the Snappers. The TinCaps made the score 10-3 in the eighth by scoring four runs.
Beloit attempted the huge comeback with the help of a solo homer from Gilbert (3) and a Max Kuhn RBI single, but the Snappers ended up falling to the Fort Wayne TinCaps by a score of 10-5, evening up the series.
The Beloit Snappers are 23-31 on the season and conclude their series with the Fort Wayne TinCaps tomorrow night at 7:00 PM. Fireworks will follow the game.
