Two Big Innings Propels Bees over Lugnuts

(Lansing-MI)- Zach Houchins drove in four runs for the Bees in their 10-4 win over the Lansing Lugnuts in the series finale, Friday night in Lansing.

Runs came early on, on Friday night, as the Bees would take a lead in the first inning. With one out, Michael Hermosillo walked and then moved to second with two outs. Zach Houchins drew a walk, putting runners at first and second. Natanael Delgdao lined a single to center, scoring Hermosillo and the Bees went on top, 1-0.

Anthony Alford led off the bottom of the first inning with a line drive single to center, and then stole second, advancing to third on a throwing error. Lugnuts' shortstop, Richard Urena grounded to first, scoring Alford, tying the game at one. The next hitter, Rowdy Tellez, lined a single to center and moved to second on a Ryan McBroom single. After a walk loaded the bases, Jason Leblebijian hit a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Tellez, putting Lansing on top, 2-1.

The Bees' bats started up again in the second inning when Ryan Seiz grounded a single through the left side for a base hit. Trevor Gretzky hit a ground ball to first, off the glove of Ryan McBroom for an error, to right field, scoring Seiz, tying the game at two. With the bases loaded and two outs, Zach Houchins cleared the bases, doubling to right, scoring three runs, giving the Bees a 5-2 lead.

Lansing scratched across a run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Ryan McBroom led off the inning with a walk and moved to second on Leblebijian single. Mike Reeves lined a single to right, scoring McBroom, cutting the Bees' lead to 5-3. Tim Locastro brought the Lugnuts to within a run in the seventh inning, hitting a solo home run to left, making the score 5-4.

Natanael Delgado led off the tiop of the eighth inning with a triple to center and came home to score on a single by Caleb Adams, upping the Bees' lead to 6-4. After a Wade Wass single, Ryan Seiz singled to left, scoring Adams, making it 7-4. With the bases loaded, Jake Yacinich singled in a pair, and the Bees led 9-4. The inning was capped off by a Zach Houchins sacrifice fly, driving in his fourth run of the game, giving the Bees the eventual final score of 10-4.

Bees' starter Justin Anderson (4-3) pitched five innings allowing two runs for the win. Sean Reid-Foley (2-2) was charged with the loss while Jordan Piche (1) picked up the save. The Bees' head to Midland Michigan to start a three game series with the Great Lakes Loons, on Saturday night at 6:00 CST. Michael Bolaski starts for the Bees against Victor Gonzalez for Great Lakes.
